Welcome – NUS MBA Class of 2011!!

Srinivasa Varadhan, President of the NUS MBA Student Council, extends warm greetings to the incoming class of students.

It is with pleasure that I welcome you all to the NUS MBA Programme on behalf of the NUS MBA Community. I am Srinivasa Varadhan, President of the NUS MBA Student Council, and would like to give you a peek into the School, the people and the experience, which all await you so eagerly; a peek into the 17 month long roller coaster ride you are about to begin!

The Program
Split across semesters, the First semester quite often seems the most challenging, particularly for those after a long break from their past academic endeavors. The interesting challenge however, is not across academics, but in getting “settled as a student”. While this experience evokes emotions ranging from shock to exhilaration, everything depends on how quickly you manage to settle with the reality that your “time as a student” has started again! This 4-month long semester is the best training ground, not only for everything that will ever be required from you by the MBA program; but also and perhaps more importantly, for managing prolonged stressful periods of time.

Close Up – NUS MBA Club President Batch 2009

On the eve of the 2010 NUS MBA Club elections, Adarsh Abhineet, President of the 2009 batch shares some of her thoughts and opinions. 

Among the most anticipated events of the year in the lives of the NUS MBA students are the NUS MBA Club elections and the elections for the other supporting clubs, because the people elected become the face of the batch, and of the school, for one whole year. The elected student leaders come forth and pledge to devote time out of their hectic schedules to make a positive impact on the students’ experience. The higher up one is in the council, the more the challenges and the rewards. So just to get a close look at how hard the job is at the highest post in the Students’ Council, we caught up with Adarsh Abhineet, the outgoing President of the 2009 batch in a tête à tête, and an extremely camera-shy President at that :), the night before the election results for the 2010 batch.

NUS MBA Club Elections

Electoral fever not only gripped United States but also passed on to NUS Business School premises in late January. The MBA club elections were scheduled to be held in mid February for the post of respective Club Presidents, Directors for Program Development, Student Activities, Career Services and the ‘Big One’ the President of NUS MBA club.

The candidates kicked off the election campaign by floating their mandates for the forthcoming academic cycle, followed by canvassing within the cohort. The Consulting Club election set the tone for the rest of the two week marathon process. In a closely fought battle for the post of President of Consulting club, Isha Gupta scampered home by 11 votes to 9. Isha has laid down the agenda for the Consulting club members. Her emphasis will be on inviting industry experts, conducting case workshops and facilitating tie ups with Consulting Clubs of other major Business Schools. Gagan Deep, Atreyee Pal and Rohini Srivastava won the elections for the Executive Committee to make it an all women’s line up and set a fresh precedent in history of NUS MBA clubs.
