The fourth instalment of the Mind My Business Entrepreneur Alumni Networking programme kicked off on 20 January 2015, as alumni from NUS Business School came together for a night of fruitful discussion on all things entrepreneurial.
This was the first time that the event had taken place on the NUS campus and it also took on a refreshing new format. Facilitator for the evening, Catherine Chai (BBA 1992), came up with the idea of holding discussion sessions as a way for alumni and fellow entrepreneurs to establish new connections while providing an opportunity to share one another’s experiences.
Participants were divided into five groups to explore questions posed by Catherine. To gauge the effectiveness of the event, as they arrived, attendees were asked to indicate the number of connections they expected to make during the evening. This was checked against how many connections they actually made at the end.
Alumni felt that it was good to be able to reflect on one’s own journey while learning from the experiences of others. This was expressed by Desmond Moey (MBA 1997), who said: “Very thankful for Catherine, making us talk and share as well as helping us connect! I guess I just “realised” that GANO has nice intentions, to keep us together and to perhaps do things together in due time. Thanks to Hamidah and the folks at GANO.”
As the fruitful evening came to an end, Ryan Peh (BBA 2009) perfectly summed up the sentiments of all the participants when he said: “It was really good to connect with so many alums and hear from them, and I look forward to the next networking programme!”
