Label pins and passport holders bearing the NUS logo brought back warm memories at the Taipei Alumni Luncheon organized by NUS Business School on 1 May 2008.

The gifts were well-received by alumni members based on Taipei who had gathered for the event held at The Guest House, Sheraton Taipei Hotel. Some even turned up wearing NUS apparel.

Representatives from NUS Business School Professor Susanna Leong, Vice-Dean of Graduate Studies Program and Ms Jeanine Chen, Manager of GANO were also present to play host.

The gathering marked the first time that the alumni had converged in Taiwan. It offered a good chance for them to catch up, many of whom had graduated from the APEX-C MBA course over the years.

Among those present were alumni from the various degree programs, such as Ms Vicki Ong Hui Yuan (BBA 1999), Mr Hsu Cheng Yi (APEX-C MBA 2000), Mr Chin Jin-Yi (APEX-C MBA 2004) and Mr Huang Ying Jing (APEX-C MBA 2002).

But it was not entirely an all-alumni affair as friends and spouses of the alumni were also present. Most were impressed by the turnout and the friendship that was celebrated over lunch.

Apart from networking and rekindling of friendships, there was also a discussion on the possibility of formalizing the NUS Business School Taiwan Alumni Chapter by the end of 2008.

Most agreed that this would ease the communication channels and foster more relationships amongst members. The enthusiasm of the members made sure that a preparatory committee was quickly set up. An installation of the Chapter has been targeted for end of 2008.

The alumni present were extremely pleased that the school had organized such an event.

“It was a good chance for us to meet other alumni based in Taiwan so that we can share our contacts and offer assistance whenever required,” said Ms Ong. “We are grateful for the enthusiasm of our Taiwanese based alumni, and look forward to working closely with them for a vibrant alumni community there,” said Jeanine.
